I started my career in 1996 as an engineering apprentice, programming, setting and running CNC machines, then moving into inspection, CMM programming, planning and estimating. That hands-on grounding still shapes how I lead quality today.
Since then I've held Quality Manager, Head of Quality & Business Improvement, Business Unit Manager and Quality Director roles across aerospace, automotive, special processes, tooling and assembly. I've led teams across multiple business units, owned budgets and Capex, deputised for a Managing Director and been the senior quality contact for customers including BAE Systems, Thales UWS, Spirit, KNDS and Komatsu.
My approach is practical and evidence-led: understand why a problem really happens, fix the system rather than the symptom, and make sure the improvement is still holding months later. Compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 matters, but it should translate into consistent operational execution, fewer defects and customer confidence.
Based in Lancashire, UK, I'm currently Quality Manager at Buoyancy Aerospace.
